Château Le Tertre de Leyle

Appellation : Côtes de Bourg

Vintages : 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022

Located in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, the estate is made up of one piece. Made from carefully selected plots, this cuvée is subject to special aging.
Cradled from an early age to the rhythm of the seasons and the harvests, Pierre and Lucas, in the footsteps of their elders, are active in the vineyard and in the cellar. At the same time, you have to take care of the vines and watch over the wine in the vats.
Philippe, the father, is careful and gives this young team its advice and passes on the experiences acquired during its years of work: the 2022 vintage will be its 51th harvest!

The opinion of our oenologists

This wine presents a beautiful intense garnet colour with purple highlights. The nose opens with scents of fresh fruit and then, after aeration, evolves on toasted and spicy notes. The palate has a supple attack with notes of red fruit (cherry, blackcurrant), followed by spicy flavours and a lingering finish. The tannins are well blended.

The Côtes de Bourg appellation

The Côtes de Bourg extend over about fifteen kilometers along the right bank of the Gironde and the Dordogne. Its terroir is composed of clay-limestone, gravelly and sandy soils. The vines are planted on slopes with varied exposures, which explains the presence of numerous microclimates which influence the character of the wines. The vineyard, with a total area of 4,000 ha, mainly produces red wines (99%) with 3 to 8 years of aging. While Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are the most common, other grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Malbec can be used in the composition of the wines.
