The Bordeaux appellation is very vast, it extends over more than 44,000 ha and has 505 municipalities. It produces mainly red wines but also dry, sweet and syrupy white wines, rosé wines and clairets. The great diversity of terroirs and soils give Bordeaux wines a variety of characters depending on their production area. The emblematic grape varieties of the AOC are Merlot and Cabernet (Sauvignon and Franc), Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle. The keeping of the wines is 2 to 4 years.
