Robe : Bright ruby. Nose : Well evolved fruit, sweetness and maturity. Taste : The wine is pleasant, full of roundness in the attack, small tannins in the finish but it melts quickly, offering a nice balance.
The Fronsac appellation
The Fronsac appellation is located to the north-west of the town of Libourne between the meandering right bank of the Dordogne and the right bank of the Isle valley. With a surface area of 840 hectares, the vineyard produces only red wines with an average of 40,000 hectolitres per year. There are two types of soil in the 7 communes of the appellation: chalky to clay-limestone soils on the plateau and mounds, and brown clay-limestone soils on the hillsides and valleys. Cabernets – Franc and Sauvignon – combined with Merlot are the main grape varieties of Fronsac wines which can be kept for 3 to 10 years.
